I Did Some Yoga. My Dog Helped. Sort Of…

In my last post I mentioned that I have a labradane (Labrador and Great Dane mix) named Ember. She’s almost 10 months old and has the funniest personality. Her eyes say a lot and she is generally very expressive.

She’s 1 of 10 puppies and is lucky because she gets to frequently see her siblings because each of my sister-in-law’s (3!) and my mother-in-law have one!

One of the reasons we chose Ember from the litter was the sass and personality she showed at a very young age. It hasn’t calmed down since she’s been home with us.

As I try to get back into writing, I think I’ll choose topics I enjoy. Ember is certainly one of them πŸ™‚ My husband and I don’t have kids yet, so we talk about her like she is one. Haha. Hope you don’t mind!

I titled it what I did because I truly did yoga recently, and, well, she tried to help.

img_1342Please excuse my tummy. I’m a real human. I got a little love to share. Also working on my flexibility. Or lack of.

img_1344

When I started my practice that morning she immediately began playing with me and so I turned on my phone taking a time lapse video. These were just funny screen shots I got.

img_1309

This is her “why aren’t you sharing your food with me?” face. Her dane features really show here.

img_1245

Now she’s trying to be sweet.

img_1011

She really smiles! She’s a great camper and hiker! We got her her own pack so now she can carry her own water and food.

img_1135

She is soo afraid of the vacuum that when it’s out of the closest she hides anywhere she can.. typically the tub if it’s open. I can usually count on her being there after I’ve vacuumed. But the lawn mower? Leaf blower? Weed whacker? Oh, those are her friends and she’ll happily chase or bark at them! I dunno what the vacuum ever did to her…

img_9623

She’s a great traveler! We went on a two week road trip with my in-laws (we have our own remodeled cab over camper!) and she was soo good in the truck! She never whined or complained.

By the way, her grandmother was a pure bred AKC Great Dane that was “blue” aka gray. That’s where she got her coloring from.

img_7943She has green eyes πŸ™‚

This is one of my favorite puppy pictures of her. She was so fluffy and cute! Now she’s just big and cute. She’s probably around 55-60 lbs now and she’ll grow a little bit more. Thankfully for us she’s not huge!

I never thought my husband would love an animal the way he loves her but if this is any indication of what he’ll be like when we have babies… He’s gonna be such a good daddy!

I’m especially thankful to have Ember when my hunny is working so many days straight. She keeps me company when I’m home alone and makes me feel safer.

Dogs really are a (wo)man’s best friend.

Positive Vibes

Sometimes I wake up on the wrong side of the bed, figuratively of course. But none the less, I’m put in a mood thatΒ is less then cheery. I can joke and laugh but then I’m still feeling moody. Today, for example, I’m just feeling kind of “meh” and it’s annoying me. I can’t snap out of it.

I’ve been having difficulty sleeping for a while now, but that’s also normal for me. I’ve simply come to terms that I’m just a bad sleeper. I also have an annoying contact lens and my glasses are at home. I’m also feeling hangry (hungry+angry). And my hair has been bugging me this week, almost to the point where I contemplated cutting some of it off. But I’m not. I know I’ll regret it. Like I always do. But you know what I mean about the hair, right? Ugh. Some days…

So can you tell I’m in an irritated mood?

A few things I might try to help myself feel better includes a) eat something, b) put on fun lipstick (currently wearing a fun coral pink now), c) list a few things that make me happy. I need positive vibes.

So let’s do it.

1) My husband. That’s a given though. But this week he’s been especially awesome. The other day he surprised me with a brand new backpacking pack. I’m so excited to use it and can’t wait to go on a trip. Even just thinking about it now makes me so happy.

That there is my new backpack. It’s a Gregory Deva 70, the 2015 model. I took a screen shot of it from the Gregory website because the picture I have makes it look sad since it’s empty. Haha.

IMG_4188
And that is my handsome hubby all dressed up for his sister’s wedding. and of course me in my bridesmaid dress πŸ˜‰ I loved getting my hair done that day. And we couldn’t help but sneak a few kisses during the wedding. Haha. We’re no longer the new newlywed’s in the family.

2) The beach. We spent two days at the beach this past weekend and it was marvelous. So relaxing. We also got some awesome tans.

IMG_2758
This picture was last October but the scene was the same, even the bikini.

3) Guilty pleasure music.

This weeks (or month’s) playlist includes Nick Jonas, Bruno Mars, and Katy Perry.

4) Family. Tonight we’re celebrating my oldest brother’s birthday and also we’ll be missing one sibling, I’m looking forward to quality time with my family.

IMG_0316
I love them.

5) Milo. Pets really know when you’re emotional or something. They just get it. He’s been attentive to me today and I totally appreciate his puppy dog eyes and they way they look at me.

How cute is he?

6) Bonus…

you guys!

I was nervous about my blog post last week, my #DearMe post. But some of you wrote me private messages and left sweet comments that made me feel so good. I love you guys.

And now I feel better. Seeee how that works?

If you’re ever feeling blah, try writing down a few things that make you happy!

Fluffy Milo

Milo, which is his given name, is a combination of I believe Maltese and Lhasa Apso. This gives him hair, rather than fur. His hair has to be trimmed every couple of months as it grows, butΒ more so in the summer time due to heat. But in the winter, we let it grow out a bit so he is nice and warm. But with his hair, this creates a rather fluffy look on him. Especially on days when he’s brushed.

image
This is Milo when he was about 3 months old or so, right when he came into our lives. He was a tiny thing that easily fit in Bub’s two hands. Oh, how he had that delicious puppy smell.

Milo will be 6 this May and while of course he answers to Milo, he also answers to Fluffy. I guess you could call that his middle name, also I tend to call him, “Fluffy Milo” but it sounds more like “Fwuffy My-Yo”

And there is certainly reason as to why I call him Fluffy.

“Who you callin’ Fluffy?”

I love my My-Yo.

So Much Milo

If you don’t know who Milo is, let me introduce you to the small little one of our family, who currently resides with my parents.

photo 2
Milo has been a part of our family for about 4 years now. We got him when he was a tiny little fluff ball, one that could easily sit in my two hands. He’s a mix of Lhasa Apso and Maltese, at least that’s what I think.

photo 5
He has a very unique personality. And by unique, I mean neurotic at times. He’s not a yapper, although he loves to bark and pretend to be tough as people walk past our house on their way home from work/school. But he likes to sit on your feet if you are sitting at a desk or table, he spins in three circles when you come home and he wants to come in with you, and he just generally likes to be near you at all times. Not quite needy, but just be near you, even though you don’t have to pay attention to him.

photo 1
His best friend is Tasi, my sister’s Australian Cattle Dog. She’s about a year and a half old and obviously bigger than him. Although she’s bigger than him and probably smarter (as most cattle dogs are very smart!), he definitely rules her. Tasi also seems to think she’s Milo size, since she’s really only been around him since she was a pup. It’s funny, although not so funny when she tries to sit on your lap.Β  Ha.

photo 1
Milo has this absolutely adorable pout, especially in the morning when he wants out or just wants your attention.

photo 4
I mean, look at that little face. Bub thinks I’m weird for taking so many pictures of him. and of course I text him these pictures all.the.time. Haha. Yes, you may call me the crazy dog lady. I don’t mind.

photo 3
Milo also has this habit of taking any stuffed animal he can find (usually his size) and play with it… Whenever you walk into our house after being out for awhile, he likes to show off and he’ll bring you something like the above or even a house slipper. Just to get your attention.

And another thing he loves to do?

photo 1
Sleep. Anywhere. And everywhere.

Streeeeeeeeetch!

I love my Milo.

I Used to Take A Lot of Pictures…

Before this last year I suppose or the last few months, I would always carry around my camera, my canon rebel. I would always say, “just in case!” Because you never know when the opportunity would arise for a great picture or something. I’ve slowly replaced my beloved camera with my phone. I think that’s very unfortunate, too. Because honestly, my phone, although wonderful, cannot do justice in place of my canon.

I know one reason I’ve stopped taking so many pictures is 1) my phone is lighter, almost quicker, and I can edit on the phone, and 2) I think I’ve lost some motivation. Which is sad. I wish I had more motivation and I don’t know how to get it back. I used to just go outside, see things I liked, and *click* I had a picture. Or I would dozens if not hundreds of pictures of my niece and nephew. And food. I can easily take a lot of pictures of food. I’ve even stopping baking so much. Ahh! What is wrong with me?!

I did make some bomb cinnamon rolls this weekend, though. I even took a picture of it with my phone. Ha. But they were good. They were actually gooey inside! I’ve never been able to accomplish that before! I was ecstatic when I tasted my cinnamon roll and it was gooey inside. I had instant pride. Haha.

Anyway. Back to my point. I used to take pictures. A lot. And I loved it. I miss it. Right now I’m looking at my canon and I know it’s saying, “please play with me. I miss you.” And then I feel so guilty.

Maybe I’ll go outside and take a few pictures of anything. That sounds like a plan.

In the meantime, here are a few of my favorite past pictures.

Hugs,
Briana

Good Morning

This is how we (Milo & I) feel this morning. We did not sleep well last night. And by “we” I mean “me”.

I woke up this morning around maybe 4:00am and couldn’t fall asleep again until close to 6:00am. I kept thinking about schools and not getting in. I recieved my first rejection of the season yesterday afternoon via email from one nursing school. Oh, happy holidays. Just kidding. But seriously, I’m not happy about it. I don’t really like that school anyway. But, it is a nursing school. Oh well.

Next!

Someone needs to tell me to chill out about this whole thing because I’m losing a lot of sleep over something I can’t control. Maybe that’s the problem… I’ve lost control of it and handed it over to the powers that are boards made up of other people who don’t know me. They only know me by my GPA and what letters are next to my classes.

Bummer, man. Not that I have a bad GPA or anything; I don’t. But still. It’s kind of a self-confidence downer when you think about it that way. Ugh……….

I need to cook or bake something now. Or continue my Christmas shopping. Ah, retail therapy!

iPhone Photography Part VIII

I know I’m really behind on this. No excuses! School things should not get in the way.

And that’s saying something because I’m not even IN school right now. Although, believe me, I wish I were. I hate applying and then reapplying to schools. I think the worst part of the whole process are the transcripts. I hate ordering them. I don’t know why; they’re just really annoying and tedious. Some schools are different, too, depending on who is receiving them. Some schools will only accept mailed transcripts, while others will only take hand delivered. Bleh.

Anyway! On to pictures!

There’s a lot. And I mean a lot…

iPhone Photography Part VII

Sorry if this seems like a lot of pictures, but I actually had to pick and choose because there are so many. Why? Because I haven’t done my iPhone set in over a month. Oh boy. I realized during this month of no iPhone updates on my blog that I take a lot of pictures of two things: pets & kids. Third in line would probably be food… Haha.

I love food. Mmm….

On to the pictures!

i LOVE how this one turned out. Thank you Instagram.

Really, Milo? Really?

My parrot.

Fluffy got a hair cut and he looks... awkward.

I'm almost positive he's possessed...

He's actually on my lap, letting me pet him!

That looks comfortable. Not.

He's hiding from the dog. Heh.

Date night with my honey at our favorite theater. $5 for the two of us on Wednesday nights πŸ™‚

Early morning at Starbucks. I love you California.

That’s all for now I suppose! I’ll try to come up with some more interesting blogs, if anything interesting happens, that is. Any suggestions on what I could write about? Let me know! I’m open for anything.

Well, almost anything… We’ll see πŸ˜‰

Until next time, ya’ll.

iPhone Photography Pt. III

Here’s part three to my continuation of my iPhone photography!

Enjoy.

Kittles. He's lazy.

I found him like this. He's not normal.

He likes to hang out on the couch.

Combined Instagram and Diptic apps and this is what I came out with!

Damp hair. My highlights from last year are making a comeback.

San Onofre State Beach. No waves but plenty of sun for me!

Absolutely no waves, much to my boyfriend's disappointment after he bought a new board.

I babysat my niece and nephew the other night. It was fun.

A delicious Miguel's Jr. veggie burrito, wet style. nom nom nom!

My cadet owed me a sushi date. It was delicious. Then we watched "Cowboys & Aliens" It was epic.

Homemade pizza.

I made myself indiviudual enchiladas for lunch the other day.

Flowers at my boyfriend's sisters house. So pwitty.

Well, that’s all for now. Hope everyone is having a good week thus far and keeping cool wherever you are! Southern California has been pretty warm this week and it’s not pleasant, especially when it gets humid. 100+ weather plus humidity? Not so fantastic.

Later ya’ll!
